Initial Consultation:
The journey begins with a personal consultation where we discuss your vision, style preferences, and any specific ideas you have in mind. This is the time to share inspirations, themes, or occasions for the piece. Discussing the story behind your idea allows for key details to be included that make your piece even more unique to the occasion.
Design Sketching:
I will provide a rough sketch of the design prior to the 50% downpayment to ensure we can align on your vision. This allows for any adjustments or discussions before committing, in case I cannot meet your expectations. Once the vision is clear and the downpayment has been received, I will create the professional sketches. This involves:
Brainstorming ~ I sketch multiple concepts, focusing on shape, size, and overall aesthetic of the piece based on your wants.
Refinement ~ After your feedback, I refine the chosen design, adjusting details like proportions and settings. With clear communication and attention to detail, I will refine the design to the overall vision.
Gemstone Selection:
Choosing the right gemstones is crucial for your piece. We discuss:
Type of Gemstones ~ Do you prefer precious stones like diamonds and sapphires, or more unique options like opals or turquoise?
Color and Size ~ Consideration of colors that resonate with you, as well as the size of the stones to fit the design chosen.
Quality ~ We evaluate the quality and cut of the stones, ensuring they meet your standards and fit the overall vision.
Metal Discussion:
The choice of metal will enhance the design and determine the piece's durability:
Metal Types ~ Options include yellow gold or silver.
Finish ~ Discussing finishes such as polished, matte, or textured to achieve the desired look.
~ Allergies and Preferences ~ We consider any sensitivities to metals and your personal style.
Final Design Approval:
After finalizing the gemstones and metal, I present the completed design sketch, including details on size and stone placement. Your approval is essential before moving forward. Do not approve of furthering the process if you are not 100% happy with the design. It is okay to refine the design more than once to get to your desired vision :)
Crafting the Piece:
With the design approved, and the first downpayment has been collected, I begin the crafting process:
Metalwork ~Shaping and forming the metal according to the design.
Setting Stones ~ Carefully setting the selected gemstones into the metal, ensuring they are secure and beautifully displayed.
Finishing Touches ~ Adding any final details, polishing the piece, and preparing it for presentation.
Delivery and Follow-Up:
Once the piece is complete, I provide a final inspection making sure piece is up to par, stones are well set, and it perfectly encapsulates the desired design. The jewelry is packaged beautifully for you to enjoy or gift. I’m also available for any follow-up questions or adjustments you may need.
Summary:
Creating custom handmade jewelry is a collaborative journey that combines your vision with craftsmanship. From initial sketches to selecting the perfect materials, each step is tailored to ensure your piece is truly one-of-a-kind.
Downpayment Policy for Custom Jewelry Design:
To protect the integrity of my designs and ensure a committed partnership, I require a 50% downpayment before starting the official design process. This step helps safeguard my creative work and demonstrates your serious intent to move forward with the project. Once the design is finalized and a timeline is established, I will then request the remaining 50% downpayment to proceed with hand crafting your piece. Thank you for your understanding and support.
